Kate, newbie songwriter and guitarist whose music grew out of life twists and hard-earned grace. After a big-hearted, big-bodied dog crashed into her and broke her leg, Kate picked up an acoustic guitar and never really put it down. [new meaning to break a leg]
... led her to the Martin Guitar Factory, where she found an instrument that would become a steady companion. When COVID arrived the next year, she leaned into her marketing roots and formed a jam-band-style project, Relativ Jams, with musically gifted relatives who have been playing for years. During that same season, Kate lost her best musical friend to brain cancer, then faced her own breast cancer diagnosis just three months later, all while becoming an empty nester after raising four incredible children with husband, Woody. Through chemo she added electric guitar to her sound, letting music carry her when words alone could not. Post-treatment, Kate was invited to serve on the Women Who Rock Committee and alongside Bonny Diver, the Board of Hair Peace Charities, working with energized women to raise awareness and funding for women’s health and music. Today, Kate writes original music rooted in resilience, connection, and the stories that shape us, still very much in the ride and grateful for every note. 🎸✨
